Forest Resources Nearly 60 percent of North Carolina's 33 million acres is considered forestland. North Carolina Cooperative Extension works in partnership with other agencies to provide research-based educational programs that help landowners, foresters, and natural resource managers make wise use of forest resources. Over 6 million dollars of timber is harvested each year in Caldwell County. Forestry is a growing area in the county for both traditional landowners and new landowners making a financial investment with long term goals.
