Hopper burn damage from potato leaf hopper on red maple

I had several questions related to problems with maples last week. In the process I noticed damage from maple spider mite, hopper burn (potato leaf hopper), maple shoot borer, anthracnose, and canker diseases. Since maples are an important nursery crop, this is a good time to review maple production and pest management options. Take a look at the maple chapter (Chapter 10) in the IPM for Select Deciduous Trees in Southeastern US Nursery Production book found online at: https://wiki.bugwood.org/IPM_book

This chapter and others include important information on species, best management practices, abiotic and wildlife stressors, insects and pest management, and disease management.
