Camp with Us!

Caldwell County plans to send youth to Millstone 4-H Camp August 1–6, 2021. This opportunity is available for youth ages 8-14. In Caldwell County, 4-H members registering through the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Caldwell County Center can receive a half scholarship once per summer to a state 4-H camp.

To reserve a spot, a $50 deposit can be sent to the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Caldwell County Center (120 Hospital Ave. NW, Suite 1, Lenoir, NC 28645). The total cost, before scholarships and including the $50 deposit, is $450 for the camping week.

Why Send a Child to 4-H Camp?

4-H CAMP BUILDS AFFINITY FOR NATURE

Far from the digital screens at home, 4-H campers are fully immersed in the natural world. Time spent in nature helps young people manage stress, improve concentration, and increases self-esteem.

4-H CAMP PROMOTES PHYSICAL HEALTH

Combined with activities like swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, and more, youth learn how to enjoy physical activity.

4-H CAMP TEACHES INDEPENDENCE

Children are encouraged to push their boundaries, step out of their comfort zones, and grow the self-confidence necessary to become independent.

4-H CAMP CULTIVATES A SENSE OF BELONGING

4-H camp gives young people the opportunity to be themselves while appreciating others with values, attitudes, and abilities different from their own.

4-H CAMP TEACHES RESPONSIBILITY

For many, 4-H camp is a first experience cleaning a cabin or setting a table. It may also be the first time campers work with others to overcome challenges.
