Caldwell County 4-H is gearing up for an exciting season filled with educational programs, community engagement, and hands-on learning opportunities for local youth. From leadership events to creative workshops and outdoor adventures, the coming months offer something for everyone!

Earlier this month, Caldwell County 4-H members delivered a strong showing at the West District 4-H Horse Bowl. Our Horse Bowl teams demonstrated outstanding performances, with Ava, Cora, Daisy, and Henry placing 4th, and Reese, Layla, Penelope, and Nathan securing 2nd place in the very competitive mixed division. Reese, Layla, Penelope, and Nathan earned a spot in the state competition in Raleigh. Caldwell County 4-H extends sincere gratitude to Coach Lisa Deal for her exceptional leadership and dedication. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and commitment shown by all team members!

February will also mark the deadline for Project Record Books, an important part of the 4-H experience that helps youth reflect on their growth, achievements, and learning throughout the year. The season will continue with one of the program’s most anticipated celebrations, Achievement Night on March 20, where members will be recognized for their accomplishments and dedication from the past year. We always have a great time this night and love celebrating our 4-H’ers!

Spring Break Fun is here, and it brings even more opportunities for youth to explore, learn, and connect!

On April 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Caldwell County 4-H will host the Lenoir History Tour, where participants will step back in time and discover the rich heritage of Caldwell County. Youth will enjoy a guided walking tour of Downtown Lenoir with Mayor Joe Gibbons, visit the Caldwell Heritage Museum, and explore the interactive “Our Story: The History of Caldwell County” exhibit. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch and a water bottle for the day.

Creativity takes center stage during the Fair Crafts Workshop on April 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Youth will design and create fair-ready art projects while learning helpful tips for entering items into the Caldwell County Fair. This relaxed, hands-on workshop encourages imagination, artistic expression, and fun with friends.

Outdoor exploration continues with the Spring Break Hike on April 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During this free event, youth will enjoy a guided hike, learn about nature, and spend the day discovering the outdoors. Participants should bring a packed lunch, a water bottle, and wear comfortable outdoor clothing and shoes. Location details will be shared with registered participants.

Space is limited for all programs, and early registration is encouraged. To register for these events, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/ and search Caldwell County 4-H or use the direct program links when shared.

In addition to youth programming, Caldwell County Extension is also investing in the future by seeking applicants for its Summer Extension Internship that will be focused on 4-H programming. The paid internship is open to college students who are hardworking, team-oriented, and passionate about working with young people. Applications are due by March 6.

Caldwell County 4-H continues to provide meaningful experiences that help youth build life skills, explore new interests, and connect with their community. Families are encouraged to watch for additional upcoming summer programs and events, which should be open to register on April 1st.
