Caldwell County 4-H has been celebrating the holiday season since October! We have had a costume party, participated in the Lenoir Christmas Parade, and held our annual Holiday Crafts! As the new year is about to begin, we wanted to share with you what 4-H is and what we offer for youth!
“North Carolina 4-H is a fun program where you get to “Learn by Doing.” With more than 10,000 established 4-H programs across North Carolina, you can be a part of 4-H wherever you live. All youth between the ages of 5 and 19 are invited to join! In 4-H you can go to camp, start a business, ride in a bike rodeo, take part in an international exchange, raise an animal, create a blog, give a presentation, participate in a community service project, develop your resume, practice interview skills, learn about healthy eating habits, build lifelong friendships. Best of all, membership is FREE! 4-H costs nothing to join!”(NC 4-H 2023).
Caldwell County 4-H offers many opportunities for our local youth, including 8 different clubs, Summer Exploring Day Camps, citizenship activities, and we also attend residential camp at Millstone 4-H Camp. Our clubs include Appalachian Aces, Cooking Club, Circuit Breakers, Cloverbuds, Saddle Club, Livestock Club, Blue Ridge Riders, and our Jr. Historical Dance Troupe. Additionally, we are in planning mode for Summer Exploring, which is a selection of Day Camps put on at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Caldwell County Center. Here is a sneak peek of one camp we will be providing called the “Dog Days of Summer”. Youth will learn from dog groomers, trainers, veterinarians, and animal control professionals! This camp will be all about dogs and how to be a responsible pet owner, as well as the many professions that are dog or animal-related. This is just one of the many different day camps we will be offering this summer, topics will range from Rockets to Horses, so keep an eye out for announcements and how to sign up!
