Caldwell County 4-H and the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Caldwell County Center encourages youth and families to participate in the 2022 Caldwell Agriculture Fair, which is set for June 30-July 4.
Why should anyone care about the fair? While historically, agriculture fairs existed to bring farmers together, modern fairs are as much about agriculture education as they are about showcasing local food and agriculture. Youth and other community members can participate in the fair in several ways.
Youth and adult entries
Youth ages 5-19 can exhibit anything from flowers to photography at the fair. They are able to show off their skills by exhibiting something they made or grew and receive feedback from a judge.
Non-livestock youth entries will be accepted on Monday, June 27 from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. Entries will be conference judged beginning at 3:30 p.m., and sign-ups for judging will end at 7:00 p.m. - also on the Monday of Fair week. Conference judging will give youth an opportunity to dialogue with the judge and enhance what is learned from the exhibit. It is encouraged but not required.
Adult entries will be accepted on Wednesday, June 29 starting at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until 6:30 p.m. For more information regarding booth displays, exhibit entries and/or volunteering, please contact Mallory Keller at mkeller@caldwellcountync.org or (828)758-1111.
For both adults and youth, pick up is Tuesday, July 5 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Reserve and Decorate a Booth
4-H Clubs, non-profit organizations, and other civic groups can reserve a booth at the fair free of charge up until the week before the fair. Commercial booth are available for $125. Contact the fair office at 828-728-7050, or make booth reservations with Mallory Keller at mkeller@caldwellcountync.org.
