7 Steps to a Great Thank You Note From MSU Extension

Michigan State University's Extension and 4-H program offers tips on how to write a great thank you note. After practicing a few times, it will be a skill you can use for a lifetime.

For example, if someone volunteered to help you prepare for a presentation, you could write the following (in bold), using the outline above:
  1. Dear Mrs. Rodriguez,
  2. Thank you for teaching me how to give a presentation and listening to me practice.
  3. I was feeling lost and didn't know where to start before you stepped in to help me.
  4. I will use this skill again in the future when I present for school projects or probably at work in the future.
  5. After you helped me, I received a compliment from a friend who watched me give my presentation. He said I spoke with confidence.
  6. Thank you again for taking time to work with me.
  7. Sincerely, Joey Clover
