Gain hands-on leadership experiences as a Junior Leader this summer! The 2022 Junior Leader application is now available.

Caldwell County 4-H plans to hold a variety of short-term, in-person programs this summer; and we are looking for motivated young people (ages 12-18) to volunteer with these programs and work toward general self-improvement.

JUNIOR LEADERS:

  • Must have a positive attitude and abide by the 4-H Code of Conduct.
  • Will earn $75 credit (expiring 12/2023) toward any 4-H event, if they finish the summer in good standing. To be in good standing, youth must have exhibited responsibility, reliability and cooperation.

BENEFITS:

  •  Be a role model for younger youth.
  • Service hours can be logged for Beta Club or another program
  • We include opportunities to socialize, meet new people and build friendships.
  • Most Junior Leaders report an increase in their self-confidence.
  • Optional personal development activities are offered to Junior Leaders throughout the summer. Topics will be chosen based off of Junior Leaders' interests.
Interested youth should submit an application online by Friday, April 29 at noon.Team training will be in-person Saturday, May 21. It is expected that all new Junior Leaders attend the team training. Returning Junior Leaders are also highly encouraged to attend.

NEXT STEPS - RETURNING JUNIOR LEADERS:

Returning Junior Leaders are eligible to apply for the "Next Steps" Junior Leader program. Next Steps is an extension of the traditional Junior Leaders program.

Next Steps is for teens wanting to challenge themselves further in areas such as mentorship, marketing, event management, facilitation, teaching and public speaking. Share your preferences in your application.

Junior Leaders who select the Next Steps track will have their applications reviewed prior to the April 29 deadline, so individual training can scheduled. The last day to apply for Next Steps is March 30.

Returning Junior Leaders do not have to apply for Next Steps, if they would like to be a regular Junior Leader again. Teens would just skip the Next Steps section of the application.

Again, both new and returning Junior Leaders must complete the application and enroll in 4-H Online for 2022.
