Caldwell 4-H Busy with Fair Entries, Events

(Updated: Oct. 23, 2023, 7 a.m.)

The Caldwell County Fair was super successful for Caldwell County 4-H Members. We had over 50 youth entries ranging from crafts to many different vegetables and baked goods. We are so proud of everyone who participated! The North Carolina State Fair is currently ongoing and we had several members of the Caldwell County 4-H Livestock Club show and win big! Peyton Taylor and her market steer won Reserve Grand Champion and Shelby Ford won Reserve Grand Champion in sheep showmanship. We are so proud of everyone who showed off their hard work at the State Fair. We also had youth send in arts, crafts and vegetables to be judged as well. If you go to the State Fair make sure to keep an eye out for their many entries.

Speaking of entries, Caldwell County was able to represent the West District this year with a booth that took home third place. Our booth was a crowd favorite! The theme was “Be a Top Dog with Caldwell County 4-H”. Each club has a picture of a member or extension employee's dog representing them. For example, the cooking club has Honey, who is owned by 4-H Cooking Club member Zoe Abrams dressed up as a chef.

With fair season wrapping up there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved with Caldwell County 4-H! Next week on Monday, October 30th from 6-8 we will be holding a Costume Party at Johnny Wilson Farm. We also have the Christmas Parade on December 1st and Holiday Crafts on December 16th. These events are open to all Caldwell County 4-H’ers!
