We hosted nine Exploring Day Camps, spent a week at Millstone 4-H Camp, traveled to Wilmington for Electric Congress, and competed at NC State University during State Presentation Competitions and NC 4-H Congress. Our clubs, including the Saddle 4-H Club and the Appalachian Aces 4-H Club, also shined at district and state events!

Our Summer Exploring 2025 program was a big success! Youth dove into exciting topics like robots, rockets, dogs, horses, gardening, art, careers, and more. Every camp was filled with fun, learning, and adventure. We’re already excited for next summer!

This year, four members of our Circuit Breakers 4-H Club earned their way to Electric Congress in Wilmington by completing Electric Project Record Books. They had an amazing time alongside our supportive leaders, Tiffany Schwartz and William Meadows.

Eight Caldwell County 4-H’ers and I spent a week at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, NC, enjoying classic overnight camp experiences like swimming, ropes courses, rock climbing, archery, riflery, canoeing, s’mores, and more. It was a hot week, but full of memories and growth!

The State Presentation Competition held during the annual NC 4-H Congress at NC State had three of our teens and one younger member present for the first time. Public speaking is no easy task, and they all did amazing! Special congratulations to Henry Wilkie, who earned 2nd place with his horse presentation! We are also thrilled to recognize Eli Dillon, who was selected as an AIRE winner and earned a spot at National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia. What an outstanding achievement!

Our horse program had an incredible showing as well. Reese Darress won the Senior Ranch Championship at the State 4-H Horse Show. Ava Smith also had a fantastic event with her horses—earning State Champion Jr. Speed Division with Bob, along with multiple top 5 and top 10 finishes in ranch, versatility, hunters, western, and even costume classes with both Bob and Galaxy.

We are also proud to highlight an exciting international opportunity: Zoey Abrams, a member of our Cooking Club, participated in a 4-week Korea 4-H Exchange in Seoul, South Korea. She lived with a 4-H family, experiencing their culture firsthand while learning about Korean food, cooking, and the unique way 4-H is celebrated abroad. What an incredible adventure!

To close out the summer, Caldwell County youth represented us proudly at the NC 4-H West District Shooting Sports Competition. Competitors included Eli Dillon, JP Ploof, Mason Gryder, Bobbie Jo Downham, Jaxson Price, Lawson Baker, Mavrick Williams, Greyden Rentz, and Kimber Wood. They showcased their skills in shotgun, rifle (open sight & telescopic), and archery (compound and recurve). Several qualified for the NC 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition later this year. We would like to congratulate them for all their dedication and sportsmanship!

We are so proud of every single one of our 4-H’ers, leaders, and families for making Summer 2025 such a success. Caldwell County 4-H is growing, thriving, and making memories that will last a lifetime!

We also have several events coming up this fall that everyone can be a part of! Please add these to your calendar:

  • September 24th-28th: Caldwell County Agricultural Fair
  • October 24th: 4-H Fall Fest
  • November 6th-8th: Caldwell County Ag and Trade Expo
